Difference Between Atria and Ventricle (With Table)

Atria and ventricle get always misconnected with many people. Atria is the uppermost area of the heart where the impure blood accumulates. On the other hand, the ventricle is the lower part of the heart where the blood is from arteries. Furthermore, the difference between them is more than the similarities between them.

Atria vs Ventricle

The difference between the atria and ventricle is that the atria lie on the upper side of the two chambers of the heart and the ventricle on the lower side. Each chamber has divided into two sections one collects impure blood, and another stimulates pure blood. This circulation takes place every time your heart pumps a beat.

Atria is called or referred to as the chamber where the ventricles send impure blood, and on the other hand, this impure blood gets collected into the atria. The atria help to transport blood that is deoxygenated to the lungs that get made pure and sent to the lungs again.

The ventricle, on the other hand, is capable of collecting blood. It is the ventricle called the small cavities. These cavities are the chamber that lies in an organ. On the other hand, the blood that has got oxygenated blood to the whole body part for smooth functioning.

What is Atria?

As the heart contains four chambers in total, so the chamber where the impure blood reaches. Thinner in shape and size are the atria. The heart processes the blood by pumping it through various organs. The system further gets divided into two one is the way to impure blood, and the other is the pureblood flow. 

Among both of these, we have atria in this category of impure blood accumulation. Atria covers the upper part of the chambers, and from veins, the impure blood comes and collects in the atria. Then, it goes to the ventricles. 

The two chambers have different purposes. The right chamber has the task to accept the deoxygenated blood from all part parts of the body. This impure blood gets transferred further to the right aorta. The right side of the chamber has an atrium and a ventricle. Also, the left side has an atrium and a ventricle. 

The circularity system of the blood gets done by both atria and ventricles. Both have different works, and if one does not perform. Then the functioning may disturb. It can cause a heart attack result or other heart-related issues. 

What is Ventricle?

 The ventricles are another chamber of the heart, which gets located at the lower part of the total four chambers. The ventricle is the place where the blood from the atrium gets a location on the left side. This blood is passed further into the aorta part of the heart. The ventricle is not like atria as it has a small capillary that gets located within an organ itself. The organ protects it as the vessels are sensitive and risky to burst inside. 

Ventricle works of purification of the deoxygenated blood by sending it to the lungs. Both work the same it’s a game of blood and transportation, but the way and tasks differ. On the other hand, atria are responsible for the deposition and transport of this impure blood to the right ventricle. The tricuspid valve is responsible for the blockage of blood that has come from circulations. 

This valve helps the blood not to flow back, and hence the ventricle transports it ahead to the lungs with any chance of getting dissolved with deoxygenated blood. The system goes parallel by the function of the atria and ventricle in the heart pumping blood process. It means when the right atria work, and it makes the use of the left ventricle at first. 

In the next section, the left atria works, and the right ventricle gets in the action. In the same way, the left ventricle gets oxygenated blood from the pumped blood by the right atria. The functionality looks very confusing but, this is what gets going in our hearts for years.  

Main Differences Between Atria and Ventricle 

  1. The first difference between the atria and ventricle is that these both differ in location. Atria lies on the upper side of the chambers. On the other hand, the ventricle lies on the downside of the chambers. 
  2. Atria is thinner in size. On the other hand, ventricle is thicker in size and proportion than the atria. 
  3. The left atria work with the right ventricle by transporting the oxygenated blood to the lungs and circulation in the whole body. 
  4. The right atria work well with the left ventricle by accumulating the deoxygenated blood and sending it to the place it gets oxygenated. 
  5. The atria get further divided into two sections, and ventricles to are divided into two. These two works appear with each other.

The heart is a part of the human system and not only humans but all species present on earth. The various organs have various uses in our body. The heart has a different mechanism and has four chambers available in the heart with atria and ventricle divided. The divided chamber in which the right and left Atria.
