What is iRobot Roomba 675?

The iRobot 675 is popular among individuals looking to procure a sturdy robot vacuum at a low price. This robot vacuum contains a very basic range of features of the iRobot brand.

The first and foremost feature of this Roomba is that it possesses dual brush technology. This feature is exclusive only to Roombas. The brush system consists of two brushes. The first brush is a hard plastic brush whose arrangement is in the form of bristles. Besides this is the foam rubber brush that can grip dust easily. The plastic brush can dislodge dirt from the ground or carpet. The Roomba also consists of a small brush at the bottom of the Roomba, which also aids in removing hard dirt.

Both the Roomba 675 and 677 come with a Dirt sensor. This helps the vacuum to sense dirt and move towards it. In addition to this, it also possesses a cliff sensor. This sensor protects the Roomba from falling off of steps. It can also notice higher platforms and changes direction as it comes in contact with the platform.

The Roomba 675 is under the control of the iRobot app. This app finds use in creating schedules for the Roomba to clean. It also sends a notification when the Roomba is on a ledge or is stuck between the furniture. Battery life is also shown on the app.

The parts of a Roomba requires cleaning every month or so. The filters in the Roomba have to undergo replacement as well. In fact, the Roomba comes with two filters.

A disadvantage that comes with using the Roomba 675 is that it can be noisy as it cleans. This can be a turn-off for most customers. In addition to this, the synchronization between the app and the Roomba can be off as it does not follow the cleaning schedules accurately.

One has to empty the bin manually after it fills up. This can be a problem for people that suffer from dust allergies.

Another disadvantage of this is that it does possess the software to map out a room. Therefore, it can be hard to direct the Roomba’s movement.

What is iRobot Roomba 677?

The Roomba 677 saw its release as an immediate upgrade from the Roomba 675. This Roomba has pretty much the same features as that of the Roomba 675. However, this Roomba possesses an extra feature that aids in understanding which portions of the room need cleaning. This is because of the addition of the Dual Mode Virtual Wall Barrier. This allows one to restrict the Roomba to a particular region of the room only.

This feature was the basis of the advanced room navigation that came in the later models.

Both the Roombas run for 90 minutes after charging for two hours. They also possess an RCONN Sensor which helps the Roomba connect with the charging dock. They are also under the control of Google  Assistant and Alexa. Orders can be given through these voice control agents.

One disadvantage that plagues this Roomba is that it cannot clean carpets very well. Dirt that is lodged in the fabric cannot be removed easily.

Main Differences Between iRobot Roomba 675 and iRobot Roomba 677

  1. The Roomba 675 does not possess the Dual Mode Virtual Barrier that allows one to exert more control on the movement of the Roomba. This software is present in the Roomba 677.
  2. The Roomba 675 is quite noisy while cleaning. However, the Roomba 677 is much quieter.
  3. The Roomba 675 costs less in comparison to the Roomba 677.
  4. The Synchronization between the app and the Roomba 677 is much better in comparison to the Roomba 675. All schedules are followed accurately.
  5. The color of the Roomba 675 is full black. This is not the case with the Roomba 677, as it has a grey head.

Although both Roombas are very similar in the features that they possess, the Roomba 677 does have an advantage. This advantage is because of the Dual Mode software. Although this is as advanced as the camera navigation present in the later models, it is still good enough.  In addition to this, the Roomba 677 has a better connection with the App as well as a larger bin volume. This increase in bin volume could mean that one would not have to empty it as much.
