Normality and Abnormality are very different from each other from definition to every aspect. Normality is usually seen by the majority of people around the world. However, some portions or aspects may make them a little bit different from the rest of the people. But that doesn’t make them anything less or superior. It’s a just state of being conscious or unconscious of understanding and well-being. Thereby impacting one’s health, behavior, and emotions as well. 

Normality vs Abnormality

The main difference between Normality and Abnormality is that normality is related to normal behavior, emotions, thoughts, etc. While abnormality is related to abnormal behavior, emotions, thoughts, etc. Secondly, Normality leads to coping with the surroundings and environment. Meanwhile, Abnormality leads to stress due to an unhealthy environment or other causes. Thirdly, Normality doesn’t affect mental health, while abnormality may affect mental health. Fourthly, Normality is a state of being conscious, while abnormality may not aware of oneself. Lastly, normality results lead to a positive response, while abnormality results lead to a negative response to others.

Coming to the psychology related to normality, the view of themselves and their surroundings are more realistic rather than superficial views. Additionally, the better understanding and stable sense of identity. 

The surroundings don’t get affected by any sort of behavior or whatsoever. There’s always a sense of understanding in every expected and unexpected situation. Keeping up with the stress is also understandable. Moreover, there’s no repercussion of an unexpected stressing situation. 

The thoughts and actions are developed with the growth of a human. And thus, it results in a rational and conscious mindset. Therefore, the thoughts and actions also go along with the societal norms and rules. Hence, it is considered as standard, although things are changing. And society is also changing over time.

What is Abnormality?

Abnormality is a set of patterns of behavior and emotions that are aligned in a usual manner with the absence of being conscious of their state of well-being. As we already know, the abnormality is not considered as a set of standards by our societal norms or rules. However, societal thinking is changing a lot. Thus some people are accepting every person with or without flaws. 

Even from the psychological aspect, it is considered as a part of bad health. For abnormality impacts mental health also health in a general manner. Moreover, the responses of the person can be very negative as compared to normality. 

In simple words, the abnormality is similar to a pattern of being deviated from the state of ideal mental health. However, it also impacts a person’s psychology, behavior, and emotions. 

As for the cause of the abnormality, there can be a range of causes. Certain circumstances can impact the person’s health, trauma, illness, underdeveloped mindset, etc. There are several reasons. 

Society considers irrational behavior and beliefs with the state of being unconscious of the surroundings as abnormal. 

Contrary to societal norms, an abnormality is can be defined as a pattern of behavior and emotions that includes a stressful coping method, not having a realistic view, a stable sense of identity, etc.

Abnormality is a branch of psychology concerned with aberrant behavior, feelings, and ideas. Because of the surroundings and atmosphere, it causes tension. Furthermore, it affects mental health. Because there is a health problem, medicine is required. Others’ surroundings and people around normal people have a negative reaction.
