The terms ‘Sexual Harassment’ and ‘Flirting’ have different sets of meanings from each other, where one can be concluded in the unhealthy category and the other in the healthy category until it is acceptable. If both Sexual Harassment and Flirting are against or opposed by someone then one should immediately take action against it to stop it. Sexual Harassment has a clear sketch of being unhealthy or against someone’s will, but on the other hand, if a person flirts with the other person and it is accepted by that person then it is considered to be healthy. But, if the person is not comfortable enough with this sort of action, it also falls under the category of harassment.

Sexual Harassment vs Flirting

The main difference between Sexual Harassment and Flirting is that Sexual Harassment refers to unwanted sexual or physical acts that are made towards someone, which include activities such as dirty comments, unwanted physical touch of any part of the body, etc. On the other hand, Flirting refers to the unintentional and frisky conduct that is made towards a person. Flirting is only welcomed when it includes funny or jolly comments and not sexual-related comments or acts.

Sexual Harassment is the act of conducting unusual and sexual activities, towards someone that is considered to be inappropriate and disturbing. One feels bad, degrading, unwanted, etc when he/she goes through this kind of act. It is totally illegal and therefore, various laws have been initiated towards this kind of act. It determines someone’s low self-esteem and adds bad and irreplaceable memories.

On the other hand, Flirting is an act of being extremely playful with someone or is attracted to someone, who gives some effort to being too nice. Flirting is liked until it is healthy and not abusive. If this act is performed against someone’s choice then Flirting directly falls under the category of harassment. One should be careful and should not violate the line, between both the person.

Harassment mainly includes three types of acts such as physical, verbal, and Visual. Often women or girls are the victims of such kinds of harassment.

Harassment can occur at any time, any place, and with anyone. Hence, one should immediately take action against the culprit, so he/she realizes the depth of these kinds of acts and in the future, it is not repeated with others. But, often people tend to keep quiet as it makes the victim feel helpless and devasted.

Flirting is defined to be a friendly and jolly act, that is used to make some effort towards the other person to attract him/her. It is and should be done in a manner that one does not hurt the feelings of the opposite person. In short, should never cross the line. It is substantially conducted as a legal act. But, if it is one against someone’s choice then one should raise its voice to stop it.

Usually, Flirting is a two-sided act and is adored by both individuals. One could not force or blame to flirt with the other person. If it becomes like pressure in someone’s mind then flirting is also included in the category of harassment. Hence, both persons should control their negative thoughts and should maintain the equilibrium between their relationships.

Lately, Sexual Harassment has taken a great toll in society, because of not taking any action against the culprit. But, one should stand for themselves and fight back for the injustice. And from the above-mentioned points and information, we can conclude that Sexual Harassment is Illegal and whereas, Flirting is legal if accepted.
