What are Vascular Plants?

Vascular Plants are one group of plants that is formed on earth with a strong root system. Further, the vascular plants have a vascular system to transport water and food within the plant.

This is the sole reason why the plants require water and sunlight in a balanced state. Devoid of anyone can lead to the decay of plants.

What are Non-Vascular Plants?

Non-Vascular Plants are one type of plants that lives in moist areas and do not rely on roots for their survival. It has rhizoids instead of roots.

They do not have a vascular system like the tracheophytes. That means to say, they do not have Xylem and Phloem as the vascular plants have.

They acquire their water content by living in damp conditions. Although scientifically these two plants do not have the two tissues, they are observed to have minute tissues that help to transport water internally.

  • The Vascular system grows big as the Vascular system grows and they are bigger. The Non-Vascular plants are smaller in size and also called as lower plants.
  • The water is transported in the Vascular Plant through Xylem while Non-vascular plants live near damp regions to acquire the required water.
  • Vascular Plants have a well-developed root system from where the plant acquired food and water. Non-Vascular plants do not have roots but have rhizoids.
  • The generation phase of Vascular phase helps in producing 2 sets of chromosomes while Non-Vascular produces only one type.
