   What is WD15?

Dell WD15 is a docking station provided by Dell which is used to connect different peripheral devices to a computer. The docking station is connected to the system using the system connection port.

WD15 is provided with a mini DP female port for connecting it to the system. The connection is made through a detachable cable.

The device provides a data rate interface of 5GB/s for transferring data between the peripherals. It can support 3 display devices with the three types of ports provided, namely HDMI, VGA, and Mini DP.

Along with display devices, it can also support audio devices using the 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack provided in the device.

The device can support display resolutions of 3840 X 2160 at 30Hz, 2560 X 1600 at 60Hz, and 1280 X 1024 at 60Hz. Thus it can connect to most display devices and operate at a decent speed.

WD19 is provided with two USB 3.1 and USB 3.2 gen 2 Type-C ports, along with three USB 3.1 and USB 3.2 gen 1 Type-A ports for connecting to different peripheral devices.

Thus the device can connect to different types of peripheral devices, with faster connectivity speeds as USB 3.1 ports provide a higher data rate than USB 2.0.

The station supports 2 displays, namely HDMI 2.0b female and DP 1.4. There are two Display Ports and only one HDMI port provided on the station. Thus the earlier versions of display devices are not supported by the docking station.

WD15 is compatible with older devices as well, as it is provided with ports that support older displays as well as peripheral devices.
