It is quite natural for a person to face identity crisis; he cannot understand what’s good for him, and hence keeps falling into a pit of hollowness which grows more and more within him. Morals and values are thus, essential for a person to know. Both of them tend to act as a guidebook, and help the person to distinguish the right things and the wrong ones.

They help us to go ahead and enjoy a life full of positivity and matured decisions. When things go wrong, and nobody is there to help you, it is the morals and values upon which you can rely and make the correct decision.

Since morals and values build up the character of a person, we should make our children learn them from the very start. However, both of these words seem to have a similar meaning. Well actually, they are not the same.

Morals vs Values

The difference between morals and values is that values are general in sense, while morals are particular. Values make us understand what is good or bad, what should we do and should not do whereas morals tend to do the same although they are the rules derived from a society, for example- truth, freedom, honestidad and others.

Morals are universal in nature; they guide a person on how to live in a society full of other persons.  Morals vary from place to place. For example, an office has a certain set of morals set out for their employees, which the latter is obliged to follow. In other words, morals are a set of rules.

The persons who are indifferent to the concept of morals, are known as “Amoral” while when a person tends to the wrong thing which is against his or her moral, the individual is known as an “Immoral”.

  5. Moral of respecting the women

Moral dilemma occurs when conflict arises between two or more morals. In such a case, the person doesn’t understand which moral he should follow.

For example, Rita is desperate to save her son’s life. However, she is very poor and cannot pay the money to the hospital. In such a case, stealing money will be the right decision according to her moral of saving her son. However, on the other side, her moral will also force her not to steal money. This is known as moral dilemma or, moral confusion.

In such a situation, a person must abide by their legal obligations and duties.

Values vary from person to person in a positive way. It helps us find peace within us by making us grasp what is good and bad for us. Values moreover help us to decide our career goals.

Most persons are unable to recognize their values from the start. However, they can do so by starting to identify their own selves. He or she must give time tothem and see which things make them feel positive.

When we do not go by our values, it causes unhappiness within us. Thus, this shows that values come from our heart, and when we do not obey them, hollowness comes and takes hold of us.

Values as said earlier are personal in nature. However, some common values are-

  2. Amabilidad
  3. Forgiveness
  4. Trustworthiness
  5. Gratitude.

If you are unable to identify your values, here are some ways in which you can do so-

  1. Start listing down the times when you were happy and ask yourself why you were so.
  2. Next, make another list of the moments when you felt proud in your life.
  3. Go on writing another list of the times when you felt that you were proud and satisfied of something that you did.
  4. Now start comparing all the lists and see which things are common. For example, if you find that maintaining discipline makes you happy, proud and satisfied, then “discipline” is the thing that you value to your heart.
