Piyush Yadav 3

Nice to meet you!

My name is Piyush Yadav, and I am a physicist passionate about making science more accessible to the general public. I have spent the past 25 years working as a physicist in the local community. Throughout my career, I have been dedicated to simplifying complex scientific concepts and ideas for non-experts. I believe that science plays a crucial role in understanding the world around us, and it is essential for everyone to have access to accurate and engaging scientific information.

I have been married for over 18 years, and my wife and I met on a mission trip where we both volunteered to help those in need. We have a strong bond built on shared values and a love for adventure. We have a large family, and we enjoy traveling together; it’s become a tradition to visit different places and learn about different cultures. We especially love visiting places where we can learn about the natural environment and wildlife.

As a physicist, I have a wide range of expertise and have been involved in various research projects, including developing new technologies, analyzing data, and solving complex problems. I have a background in different areas of physics, such as Quantum Mechanics, Astrophysics, and Condensed Matter Physics. Through my work, I have gained a deep understanding of the fundamental principles of physics. I use this knowledge to explain complex scientific concepts in simple terms that people can easily understand.

During my career, I have also been involved in various outreach programs, where I have had the opportunity to interact with students of all ages and explain scientific concepts in a fun and engaging way. I believe that science is for everyone, and I am dedicated to making it more accessible to people from all backgrounds.

In addition to my work as a physicist, I am also a committed science communicator, and I hope to continue this work in the future. My experience and skills as a physicist, combined with my passion for science communication, make me well-suited to simplify science-related topics for the general public. I look forward to the opportunity to continue making science more accessible and to inspire others to be curious about the world around them.

College degrees

I hold a Bachelor of Science as an undergraduate degree and a BSc (Honours) in Natural Sciences from Panjab University as a graduate degree. A Natural Sciences program is an interdisciplinary field of study that covers a wide range of topics related to the natural world, including biology, chemistry, physics, and earth sciences. The program provides a broad overview of these subject areas and allows students to explore different disciplines and find their specific interests.

Continuing Education

I have a passion for learning and have been fortunate enough to earn certificates and take classes at reputable colleges even after completing my BSc. I have a certificate in Computing from Aligarh Muslim University and Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Science from Andhra University. Additionally, I have audited various projects and courses from prestigious institutions, including my alma mater.

  • Quantum Mechanics (Panjab University)
  • Relativity and Cosmology (Panjab University)
  • Solid State Physics (Bioinformatics Institute of India (BIT))
  • Molecular Spectroscopy (Bioinformatics Institute of India (BIT))

Handling Corporate Projects

For around 10 years, I actively engaged in applied physics, occupying junior and senior corporate positions. During this tenure, I oversaw the scientific endeavors of renowned companies like Siemens. The R&D department at Siemens was composed of 30 full-time personnel and 12 interns. The challenges I encountered as a senior scientist sharpened my analytical and research capabilities. I am grateful for the diverse exposure I gained while working in the corporate sector.

Teaching Physics, Chemistry and Biology Courses

I started teaching in local colleges when I was in college and still do so today. My favorite place to teach is a Sunday school class, community group, or small group.

My first teaching experience outside the college was with the Science Society of India. I taught physical science courses through SSI to science school teachers needing continuing education credits.

College Professor

During my professional career, I had the opportunity to start teaching as an adjunct professor at a local science college. This experience led me to expand my teaching role at a science school and eventually take an administrative position there. I have taught for nearly 25 years, primarily in molecular biology, physical chemistry, thermodynamics, and electromagnetism. Among all the classes I have taught, my favorites are:

  • Epigenetics: The study of changes in gene expression (i.e., how genes are turned on or off) that do not involve changes to the underlying DNA sequence. Environmental factors, such as diet and exposure to toxins, can influence these changes.
  • Quantum computing: A branch of computing that uses the principles of quantum physics to perform operations on data. Quantum computers have the potential to solve certain types of problems much faster than classical computers.
  • Astrobiology: The study of the origin, evolution, distribution, and future of life in the universe. This interdisciplinary field involves the collaboration of astronomers, biologists, chemists, and geologists.
  • Psycholinguistics: The study of the mental processes involved in language, including how people understand, produce, and acquire language. This field also studies language disorders and how they can be treated.
  • Geomicrobiology: The study of the interactions between microorganisms and Earth’s geology and geochemistry. This field examines how microbes shape the planet and how they are affected by its geochemical cycles.

Academic and Learned Societies

Professional organizations for scholars and academics in the scientific field focus on advancing research in various subjects such as botany, zoology, cosmology, and many others. These societies are composed of experts, educators, and other interested individuals who actively participate in activities like publishing research papers, attending scientific conferences, and working together to foster interest and progress within their particular field. I am proud to be a member of the following professional societies:

SocietyAbout
Indian National Science AcademyINSA’s mission is to provide a national forum for promoting scientific research and exchanging ideas in India. It is a platform for scientists, researchers, and academics to share their findings and collaborate on research projects.
Indian Academy Of SciencesIAS supports the scientific community in India by publishing research journals and organizing scientific conferences, seminars, and lectures. It also offers funding and grants to young and early-career scientists to support their research and encourage scientific excellence.
National Academy Of SciencesThe NAS comprises a diverse group of scientists, engineers, and healthcare professionals who their peers elected in recognition of their outstanding achievements in their fields. The organization’s mission is to advance scientific knowledge and provide independent, objective advice to the nation on issues related to science and technology.

Writing

Writing has always been a personal passion of mine. I have always enjoyed creating written content, and as an example of my work, I have written an article about Contagion Theory and Convergence Theory. Around 15 years ago, I discovered the joys of online writing, and I’ve been doing it since. One of the things that I enjoy the most about writing is the combination of content creation and the scientific skills it requires. It has been a meaningful way to express myself and share knowledge.

Contact me

I have tried to strike a balance between sharing information about myself with interested readers and preserving some degree of privacy. While I prefer to keep certain aspects of my personal life private, I am open to sharing more details about myself via email if the situation is appropriate and the reason for doing so is valid.
