At the beginning of the 21st Century, personal computers were relatively rare, and only the people who really needed them used to buy them.

In addition to that, even the costliest and the most high-end devices of that time were very less powerful than the average-priced devices of today.

However, as time went on, life became faster, and several technological innovations happened to keep up with this fast-paced society. One of the biggest technological moves was the large-scale commercialization of the personal computer.

Almost everybody seemed to need a personal computer. Office goers needed it for presentations, e-mail, etc. Students needed the Internet to study, and content creators needed it to edit videos, graphic designers needed it for designing, the list is endless.

It is no surprise, that with the mainstream commercialization of personal computers, the market has divided itself into segments based on the price factor.

There are cheap budget laptops, slightly expensive mid-range laptops, and then the costliest, premium laptops. Several companies manufacture laptops for all of these segments.

Dell is one of the leading companies to do so. One of the premium laptops manufactured by Dell is the Dell XPS which is strongly rivalled by the MacBook Pro.

Key Takeaways

  1. The MacBook Pro has a more streamlined design and a longer battery life than the Dell XPS.
  2. The Dell XPS has better hardware specifications, such as a higher resolution display and more storage options, making it a better choice for power users.
  3. The MacBook Pro runs on Apple’s proprietary operating system, while the Dell XPS uses Windows, which can affect software compatibility and personal preference.

Dell XPS vs MacBook Pro

The difference between Dell XPS and MacBook Pro is the price difference between the two models. The latest version of the Dell XPS can cost quite less than the MacBook Pro. The difference between the prices matters the most because, at the price of the MacBook Pro, one can get better, more powerful laptops from other companies, however, keeping the specs in mind, this difference stands out the most.

Dell is a company that has long focused on innovation, and its latest Dell XPS 13 (2020) is a result of that.

This device is unarguably one of the best devices that is present in the market, and even though it is a really slim laptop, the power it packs inside is comparable only to a few.

The laptop has a frost-white color and also has an anodized aluminium finish. This makes the laptop stand out, which also justifies the price tag that it carries with it.

The base model of the Dell XPS features an Intel 10th Gen i5 chip with 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD

These laptops come in two variants, a non-touchscreen and a touchscreen. The touchscreen one weighs a bit more and obviously costs more than its other counterpart.

This variant is better suited for graphic designers, artists, etc., who need a lot of precision and control by hand.

The laptop also has a fingerprint sensor, which enhances the security features of the laptop, as well as makes the login process quicker than the standard PIN or Password method. Of course, the laptop is password-protected, and both methods of login are valid.

What is MacBook Pro?

The MacBook Pro is a higher-end laptop that is manufactured by the tech giant Apple.

The MacBook Pro earlier used to feature Intel processor chips, however, in 2020, Apple announced that they had ended their contract for the processor with Intel and henceforth will be manufacturing their own silicon-based chips.

This gave rise to a whole new generation of the MacBook Pro with the new Apple M1 chips.

Many reviewers have said that the Apple MacBook Pro is just the same as the Apple MacBook Air, only with the accompaniment of a fan, which helps to keep the internals of the laptop cool, and a slightly better display along with better mics.

One of the prominent features that the MacBook Pro brings about is the presence of a touch bar, that is present right below the screen. The touch bar shows various options based on the site or tab the person is using.

However, the touch bar has received a lot of negative reviews, and Apple has supposedly decided to drop it in the upcoming models.

The MacBook Pro does provide great performance, which is only challenged by the best devices in the industry. This is quite expected, as Apple hardly compromises the performance of their device.
