Broccolini is a green vegetable identical to that of broccoli. It belongs to the kingdom Plantae and Genus Brassica. The origin of broccolini traces back to the Sakata Seed Company of Yokohama, Japan.

The structure of broccoli is identical to that of sprouting-type broccoli. The usually growing height of broccolini is 80 centimeters. 

The leaves, stems, unopened flower shots, and flowers of broccolini are consumable. The flavour of broccolini is generally sweet. Several cooking methods are employed. The most common ones are boiling, sauteing, stir frying, and steaming.

In Japan, broccolini is generally steamed for consumption where it is a well-known spring vegetable. 

The ideal climate for growing broccolini is cold. It can not grow in extreme climates. After being transplanted, broccolini usually takes 50-60 days to achieve full growth.

The harvest of broccolini occurs at the stage when the heads are fully developed but they are not flowering. Once harvested, the plant is cooled to 0 degrees Celsius. This in turn prevents the flowers from developing any further. 

Broccolini is high in magnesium and calcium. This in turn helps to regulate blood pressure. In addition, it is high in fiber. An advantage of consuming fiber is that it keeps an individual full for longer periods of time.

Broccolini keeps blood sugar at a low level. Other vitamins that are prominent in broccolini are vitamin B and D. Thus, broccolini has several health benefits.
