The main difference between F1 and Nascar is that F1 stands for Formula One racing car that comes under the category of open-wheel. On the other hand, Nascar stands for National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing that comes under the category of stock cars. F1 Cars are not like regular cars. It is a single-seater racing car. Nascar is very much similar to a regular car, including fenders and bumpers.

In a year, almost 1500 races are conducted by Nascar. The highest level of competition conducted by Nascar is Nascar Cup Series started in 1972.

What is F1?

F1 or Formula One Car is one of the highest class of racing cars competition. The term Formula means that all the participants have to adhere and conform to the set of rules.

The F1 race is a series of races that started in the 1920s or 1930s in the European Championship of Grand Prix. F1 cars are very different from regular cars.

Because it is racing cars, speed efficiency is very much important. Its design and aerodynamics are very different from others.

F1 is a high-performance car that delivers great performance at the race.

F1 cars are meant for winning the race. F1 cars are very small cars if we compare their weight, height and width.

A specification is provided that F1 cars should follow. F1 cars should be a maximum of 95 cm tall and 200 cm wide.

The length of the car should not be more than 5 meters. All the cars look the same, but each one is following the rules.

F1 cars are considered as one of the most lightweight cars. 

According to the rule, it should not be lighter than 752 kg. F1 cars are designed and built with downforce and ground-up quality.

To make F1 fast car, diffusers, wings, fins, and aerofoils are included. Shells are not present in F1. Its cockpit and wheels are exposed, making it an open-wheel car.

It can accommodate only one person. F1 car start with a standing start i.e. from rest.

What is Nascar?

Nascar stands for National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, started in the year 1948. Nascar races are famous in the United States and North America.

Various series of Nascar takes place. Like the Nascar Cup series that was started in 1972.

It became popular in 2001. The Cup series is one of the highest levels of the competition and is very famous.

The Cup series consists of 36 races that are spread over 10 months. Nascar also conducts the Xfinity series, which is the second-highest level.

It has fewer races than Cup Series.

Xfinity series are also used by the professional racers as a warm-up series to win the Cup series. As Nascar is an American company, most of the races are conducted in the USA in its 48 states.

Nascar also conducts International races in Europe, Mexico and Canada. In Nascar, rules and regulations are a bit loosened.

It follows Gen-6 standards.

Nascar cars are heavier in weight. It means that if we combine two F1 cars, then one Nascar can be made.

Nascar is very much similar to Sedan cars. They can accommodate four people at a time.

Nascar is very bulky and square. Racing Chassis in Nascar is not made by the Nascar but by the car manufacturers like Ford and Chevrolet.

Main Differences Between F1 and Nascar

  1. F1 comes under the category of open-wheel, meaning that its wheels and cockpits are exposed without any shells. Nascar comes under the category of stock racing cars. They have a bulky design like regular cars.
  2. F1 can accommodate only one person. Nascar can accommodate 4 people.
  3. F1 is conducted internationally across five continents. Nascar is conducted in the United States.
  4. F1 has 20-21 races in a se4ason with no play-offs. Nascar has 36 races that are split into two seasons with 10 playoffs.
  5. In F1, the length of the races usually takes 90 minutes because of safety reasons. In Nascar, the length of the race can take more than 3 hours.
  6. F1 has a standing start meaning cars start from rest. Nascar has a rolling start meaning that cars are in a moving position in the grid, and then the race starts.
Difference Between F1 and Nascar

Both F1 and Nascar are motorsports. Millions of fans come to see the races.

Both are very different from each other when we compare the design and aerodynamics of the car. Both have a series of races where participants compete to win a prize.

Both have score and penalty systems as well. In F1 penalty system is more strict.

The tracks of Nascar and F1 is different. In Nascar, tracks are both short and large.

In F1, tracks are of different sizes and shapes.F1 cars are technologically good, faster than Nascar.

F1 cars are very lightweight. Nascar resembles Sedan cars.
