Oregano belongs to the kingdom of Plantae and the family of Lamiaceae mint. The species of oregano is O. Vulgare. Oregano has numerous uses in cooking and beauty products.
The suitable region for growing oregano is in the Mediterranean and Asian regions. But also widely grown in temperate climates. Oregano is generally a Spanish word that was derived from the Latin word “origanum”.
The word “oros” means mountains and “ganos” means brightness. In total, it means the brightness of the mountain.
Oregano has a taste of bold with a slight bitterness. Oregano is commonly used for cooking purposes. They are added to the food as toppings and food flavor which increases the taste of the food and makes them more enjoyable.
Generally, they are added at the late stages of cooking and mostly, when the food is finished cooking.
Oregano is also widely in the manufacturing of beauty products and is also used for making scents. Hence, oregano is one of the useful herbs and can be used for a variety of purposes. The use of oregano does not cause any allergies.
