Zantac is the brand name of ranitidine hydrochloride, and Pepcid is the brand name of famotidine. 

Zantac vs Pepcid  

The difference between Zantac and Pepcid is that Zantac is the medication given for treating stomach and intestine ulcers, whereas Pepcid is given for treating heartburn caused because of the acidity and sour stomach. Ranitidine is the generic name of Zantac, whereas famotidine is the generic name of Pepcid.

Zantac is also known as H2 blockers. It helps in relieving cough, stomach ache, difficulty in eating up. It is used to stop stomach indigestion and heartburn.

What is Zantac?

It is used as a combination therapy which means it needs to be taken with other medicines. This drug minimizes the amount of acid realization in the stomach and gives relief from the pain.  

Some side effects of Pepcid are dizziness, diarrhea, etc., and children below one year may also feel agitation, restlessness, etc. If these effects go severe, call the doctor immediately.

The dosage of this medicine may vary depending on many factors such as age, type, and severity of the problem. Taking these medications may cause certain allergy problems such as rashes, trouble in breathing, hives, swelling in the throat, etc.

People allergic to these drugs should not take these medicines again. 

People having moderate or severe kidney problems may not be able to clear the drug from the body. Even this may increase the level of drugs in the body.

These increased levels may cause more side effects such as confusion and irregular heart rhythm. Precautions should always be considered before the intake.
