720p vs 360p
The main difference between 720p and 360p is that 720p provides you with a high-quality video display which means you can see the video without any blur effect. Whereas, in 360p resolution, the video gets slightly blurred and, the small things displayed in the video are not properly visible.
720p is a starting range of the high-definition video having a display resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Earlier, the devices were considered best at 720p, but now there is a far better range of resolution.
The HD channels that you see on your television also display videos or movies in this standard definition only.
360p is a lower quality resolution range having a display resolution of 640×360. This resolution is best for the areas where internet speed is low, and the data quality is poor.
On small devices like phones and tablets, this resolution is highly suited because it does not strike much load on the screen.

What is 360p?
360p is the lowest and the basic resolution for the old devices and for those devices which does not support high definition format.
The pixels are less in this resolution which makes it suitable for the users who have a low-grade or low-end network or broadband connections.
360p is a standard format for the ‘video on demand’ media distribution system in which users can generate video access without the need for an external playback device.
For example, if there is an on-air show or video display about the country’s progress or any other live telecast, then the preferred display quality will be in 360p.

Main Differences Between 720p and 360p
- 720p standard high definition supports a display resolution of measure 1280 x 720 and, the bit rate is 1176 kilobytes per second. On the other hand, 360p low-quality range of video displays supports a resolution of 640×360 and, the bit rate is 514 kilobytes per second.
- 360p range is limited to some devices only and, the cameras do not support this range of quality. While 720p is a standard high-definition range and is supported by all the cameras available in the market.
- 360p includes around 230,400 pixels, and the standard aspect ratio for all the devices is 16:9. Whereas 720p includes around 921,600 pixels and the aspect ratio is 16:9 but, for small devices, the aspect ratio is 4:3 and, the display resolution is reduced to 960×720.
- As 360p resolution is of the poor quality display, it does use more data or internet. While 720p resolution is of higher quality or premium, the data it uses is more and is of a higher bit rate.
- The presentation or the display capacity of 720p is high, and the pixels are very sharp and defined in nature. Whereas the presentation or the display capacity of 360p is of substandard quality and undefined.
A high definition video is any video of lines more than 475 in some countries like Canada, Mexico and more than 575 in countries like Russia, Finland, etc.
These standards are divided based on network connectivity and the strength of the network.
The higher the resolution, the more storage space it needs; therefore, devices with less storage space do not support high definition formats.
And the devices which support high definition format have a limited range and, displaying videos above that range may harm the display system of the device.
The display above the high definition range is called full high definition or FHD display and, nowadays all the devices like phones, laptops include this display standard.
