Vistara looks like a long-haul airline that can compete with international airlines, even if it is a domestic airline, with its comfortable seats and complimentary onboard meals

It’s easy to see why the airline is so well-liked. Vistara has regularly established exceptionally high on-time performance records of over 90% since its inception, the highest among India’s domestic carriers.

Vistara announced on August 20, 2015, during its first seven months of operation, it had carried over half a million passengers.

What is AirAsia?

AirAsia Berhad (MYX:5099) (styled as AirAsia) is a Malaysian low-cost airline and its headquarters is near Kuala Lampur Malaysia.

It is the largest airline in Malaysia by fleet size and destination, AirAsia Group operates scheduled domestic and international to more than 165 destinations spanning 25 countries.

Its main hub is Klia2, the low-cost carrier terminal at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang, Selangor, Malaysia. 

The affiliates of AirAsia are Thai AirAsia, Indonesia AirAsia, Philippines AirAsia and AirAsia India.

AirAsia was established in 1993 and began operation on 18 November 1996. It was founded by a government-owned conglomerate, DRB-HICOM.

On 8th September 2001, the heavily indebted airline was bought by former Time Warner executive Tony Fernandes and Kamarudin Meranun’s Company Tune Air Sdn Bhd for the token of the sum of one ringgit

(about the U.S $0.26 at the time) with US $11 million (MYR 40 million) worth of debt.

AirAsia’s operations stimulate economic activity, benefiting not only the airline’s employees and their families but also players within and outside the travel and tourist industry.

Apart from its low-cost business style, AirAsia credits its success to its employees. Since the concept was first introduced low-cost carriers have progressed considerably.

Air Asia have greatly expanded routes, improved marketing, and expanded their services. As a result, AirAsia become one of the successful airlines in the Aviation Industry.

What is Vistara?

The name of the airline “Vistara” comes from the Sanskrit word meaning limitless expansion, Tata Sons (India) and Singapore Airlines formed Vistara as a joint venture.

It began operations as a domestic premium airline in 2015, and it now has a fleet of over 30 aircraft, including Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft, flying to around 20 destinations, largely in India,

but it has lately added international flights to Singapore, Bangkok, and Dubai.

Vistara was recently identified as the sixth-largest domestic airline, it is on its way to becoming a well-known international airline, and has recently received authorization

from the Indian government to begin international flight operations.

The airline’s worldwide expansion ambitions, which include long-haul flights from India, have been made public. The airline is aiming to buy more Boeings for its regional growth.

According to the airline, the foreign flight growth will begin with European and Asian destinations before moving on to North America and Australia.

One of the major benefits for Vistara in India is its management, which is aided and financed by Singapore Airlines.

To make its foreign flights more profitable, Vistara will likely need to increase its codeshare agreements, which now include United Airlines, Singapore Airlines, British Airways, and Japan Airlines.

Though there are several challenges for Vistara the company is looking out abroad for its expansion plans and opportunities.

2. AirAsia India’s total flights would increase by 3.57 percent, while Vistara’s will expand by 21.73

    percent.

3. AirAsia India is certified as a 3-Star Low-Cost Airline whereas Vistara is Certified as a 4-Star Airline

4. The fleet size of AirAsia is 255 (including subsidiaries) on the other hand the fleet size of Vistara is 51.

5. The parent company of AirAsia is Tune Group and for Vistara it’s Tata Sons.

AirAsia and Vistara are the two most popular airlines that provide world-class services to their consumers. They have won numerous accolades for their facilities and efficient services.

Although there is fierce competition in the aviation industry, AirAsia and Vistara have come out on top.
