HP Pavilion vs HP Victus

HP Pavilion Gaming is an attractive and expressive series of mobile computers, which are often recommended to gamers. The advantages of the machines should include a high-quality assembly, detailed elaboration of most aspects, modern technology, and high performance. On the other hand, the HP Victus laptop has a better design than the Pavilion models, powerful components, and Windows 11 OS. Given the relatively low price, this laptop could become one of the most popular.

Pavilion comes in a normal cardboard box, inside which only the laptop itself is in a safety cage, a 45W composite charger, and documentation. First of all, it is worth highlighting a solid processor family i7 – six-core Intel Core i7-8750H, as well as an improved discrete graphics card from NVIDIA – GeForce GTX 1060 Max-Q with 3 GB of video memory in most of the proposed models.

On the other hand, Victus comes in a strict black cardboard box. It has a huge logo and the name of the line printed on it. Underneath, small and orphaned, is the name of the parent company – HP. The package is, as usual, standard: the notebook itself in a safety frame, a composite charger with a weighty 240W block, and a small amount of waste paper in the form of various instructions and a warranty card. That’s about it.

What is HP Pavilion?

HP Pavilion – is a 15-inch laptop in all-metal silver color with a large HP logo on the lid in a mirror circle. The laptop looks very modern, elegant thin body, and has the same thin screen frames, and everything is made in the spirit of the currently fashionable minimalism.

On the right end, there is a charging jack, a USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A port (5Gbps), and a Kensington lock to strap the device to something so it doesn’t get stolen. On the left end, there’s an HDMI 2.0 port, another USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A (5Gbps), and USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) with charging and Display port options. Then there is a card reader with a large indentation 3.5 mm headphone jack. By the way, it is very conveniently placed: this additionally increases the length of your wire, because the connection is closer to you. The camera is installed with 720p resolution – a standard solution at the moment, suitable for basic tasks such as video calls. Sound recordings are responsible for built-in bi-directional digital microphones.

The matrix is installed with the marking LGD06E8. Judging by the name it is LG. The parameters are standard for this price category: IPS, 1920×1080 resolution, 60 Hz, 250 nits brightness, 45% NTSC color gamut. The surface of the screen has an anti-reflective coating. The frames are thin, so visually it seems that the screen is large.

What is HP Victus?

The notebook is made entirely of matte plastic. The decorative element is a mirrored “V”. On the right side are a power connector, RJ-45 for Internet connection via cable, HDMI-port version 2.1, USB-A version 3.2 Gen 1, and USB Type-C version 3.2 Gen 1 with the ability to charge and transfer images via DisplayPort version 1.4. Closer to the user on this side is a 3.5 mm jack for headphones.

Victus is equipped with a 16.1-inch matte anti-glare matrix from BOE, labeled BOE0AAD. The screen resolution is 1920×1080 and the refresh rate is 144 Hz. The brightness is 300 nits and the response time is 7 ms. The color gamut is 100% sRGB, indicating that the laptop is quite suitable for work with graphics, photography, or design. Externally, the keyboard is the same as in all laptops produced by HP – a strict rectangular block.

Subjectively, the screen leaves a very positive impression. Colors are saturated, and brightness is more than enough. There is no bias in any of the colors, and the picture looks the way it should. Games and movies look great, and animations and scrolling pages are pleasing to the eye with their smoothness.
