They are a separate organization that conducts many events and competitions for sports students. The NCAA consists of a thousand two hundred schools, but the NAIA consists of three hundred schools. The NCAA has twenty-three sports, whereas the NAIA has thirteen sports.

NAIA stands for National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. It is an association or organization for athletics in colleges and universities located in North America. The institution consists of 249 members.

The headquarters of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics is located in Kansas City, Missouri. The National media outlet for NAIA is CBS Sports Network. The NAIA Football championship was carried by ESPNU in 2014.

In 1940, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics was founded and inaugurated. The president of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics is Jim Carr.

Places like the United States, Canada, and US Virgin Islands are served by NAIA. Like NCAA, it has 249 members. NAIA Council of Presidents is the board members who have the power to make decisions.

NAIA is connected with less number of schools when compared to NCAA.

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has 14 sports. Each sport has 13 men and 12 women and 2 co-ed sports. There is three level of games conducted by the NAIA.

They are emerging, invitational, and championship. Over 15 institutions are involved in emerging sports. Almost 25 institutions involve in invitational sports. Near 40 institutions involved in championship sports.

NAIB is transformed into NAIA in 1952, which is a major change for NAIB. These changes will provide many scholarships and sponsorship opportunities for NAIA.

Main Differences Between NCAA and NAIA

  4. NCAA is divided into three divisions, and NAIA has no divisions.
  5. National Collegiate Athletic Association has thousand two hundred schools, and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has three hundred schools.
