In 2013, two former Oppo employees Pete Lau and Carl Pei founded OnePlus, a new smartphone company. Their goal was to create OnePlus phones that checked all the boxes for Android fans: amazing design, phenomenal specs, the fastest and most lightweight software, and a low price.

With the debut of the OnePlus One in 2014, it was not a dream anymore.

OnePlus has grown from its humble origins as an online-only niche smartphone manufacturer to a famous smartphone since then. When you take a step back and realize it’s only been eight years, it’s quite an accomplishment in such a short period.

5. While the Pixel 6’s aluminum frame is matte finish, OnePlus’ plastic frame has a shiny appearance.
