What is Snapchat?

Snapchat Inc is an American multimedia messaging application that allows its users to share messages and images.

The images and messages that are sent to someone get automatically deleted after a certain period (24 Hours).

This feature provided by Snapchat can be advantageous because a lot of time some images or videos can be misused by the other person.

Snapchat has got a page where you can view the latest news, fashion trends, entertainment news. This feature of Snapchat is not available on Whatsapp and thus most users find this interesting.

The primary aim of Snapchat was to share photos and this is what the app does primarily.

Whenever a user opens their Snapchat application on their phone then they will see that their camera is the first thing that opens because Snapchat does not get in the way of what it is designed for.

However, the biggest disadvantage of this app is that you cannot use it on a PC or a desktop.

Snapchat has got one of the biggest disadvantages where teenage users can add anyone whom they want without even knowing them. This way some data that has been shared can be misused in the future.

Suggestions appear when you use Snapchat showing the add option besides a person’s name. The suggestions appear from your phone’s contacts and people with whom you have mutual friends.

Well, however, it is not always a safe option to add every person whom you do not know.

What is Whatsapp?

Whatsapp is an American mobile application designed with the main purpose to share images, texts, documents, file links, and other such things. Whatsapp is an application that anyone can use without any kind of hassle.

Opening a new Whatsapp account is also free and the user interface is quite simple which makes it the most used application in the world.

Whatsapp was founded by Jan Koum and Brian Acton but, now the company is in the hands of Facebook.

Whatsapp has got many more features than Snapchat in some ways. When it comes to saving images or texts then Whatsapp allows you to do that because nowadays most business meetings are conducted through Whatsapp only.

In Whatsapp, one cannot add anyone because Whatsapp does not give you suggestions to add someone or not.

If you want to add someone from your contact you have to first get their mobile number and save their contact on your phone and then only that person’s name will appear on your Whatsapp.

You can also easily see who is online and who is not.

This makes it easier for you to text someone knowing that they will reply to you back. However, other than chatting or texting Whatsapp allows you to video call or perform normal voice calling too.

Messages and images are instantly saved and it does not disappear after 24 hours.

Whatsapp does not come with showing news and trending videos in it like Snapchat but it allows the users to share images or videos on their status so that every person on their contact list can see what has been shared by you.

Images are automatically backed up on your gallery thus you can refer to it later too. Important documents can be shared or links to some important files can be shared too.

Main Differences Between Snapchat and Whatsapp

  1. Snapchat does not allow you to save messages or images whereas Whatsapp allows saving images and messages and even allows you the option to back-up your data.
  2. Snapchat is much more focused on privacy and security whereas Whatsapp does not focus on privacy or security.
  3. Whatsapp is available for PCs and laptops too whereas Snapchat cannot be used on a PC.
  4. Whatsapp has got the option of sharing files and documents to the other person whereas Snapchat lacks in this case.
  5. Snapchat can be used for entertainment purposes also because it allows the users to see short video clips, trending videos, and another such thing whereas Whatsapp does not have that feature in it.
Difference Between Snapchat and Whatsapp

Both Snapchat and Whatsapp are two great apps ever developed for the benefit of the users.

However, Snapchat is mostly used for entertainment purposes whereas Whatsapp is mainly used for messaging and sharing important documents with others.

It all depends upon the users about which application is the most suitable one. If a person is a socially active person and has got many followers on their social media then they might like Snapchat more than Whatsapp.

Whatsapp is the best choice when it comes to conducting official chats with the other person. Users can also have group communication on Whatsapp whereas Snapchat does not have this option.

I say Whatsapp is much better than Snapchat.
