Austrian Airlines is the flag carrier of Austria and a subsidiary of the German group Lufthansa. It is the biggest airline in Austria with a global route network of around 130 destinations. What are Austrian Airlines? 

Austrian Airlines AG is shortened to Austrian which is Austria’s flag carrier. As of July 2016, it flew to approx six domestic and year-round more than 120 international and also in 55 countries as seasonal destinations.

This airline was formed after the merging of Austrian Airways and Air Austria.  

On 31 March 1958, Austrian Airways performed its scheduled service which is flying a Vickers Viscount from Vienna to London and Zurich.

However, it subsequently purchased its fleet of Viscount. It ordered its first jet-powered airline, namely the Sud Aviation Caravelle on 18th February 1963.  

During the late 2010s, the reconstructing of both the Austria Airlines route and fleet network continued. As is already mentioned it is wholly owned by Lufthansa. In approx 24 countries, Australian Airlines owns its shares.  

Austrian Airlines at its hub operates several lounges. Since 2007 Do and Co has handled Australian Airlines’ catering. On long-haul flights, the meals of business class are prepared by a chef on board.

The MRO or simply maintenance, repair, and overhaul center of Turkish Airlines is Turkish Technic which was incorporated in 2006.

It is responsible for the Turkish Airline’s maintenance and other aircraft of the third party within eight hangars. The capabilities consist of landing gear, APV, airframe, and other subsystems.  

On 10 November 2004, by the 28th THY Board the Turkish Airline Flight Academy was established. For training activities, it uses the nearby Corlu Airport and is based at the airport of Istanbul Ataturk.
