Difference Between Czech and Slovak

The world consists of a number of countries and ethnicities, and in some cases, there is a probability of confusion between certain nations or nationalities owing to certain historical similarities. Such is the case between Czech and Slovak people. Even after being completely different from one another, it sometimes becomes a matter of debate as to how these two are different. 

Czech vs Slovak 

The main difference between Czech and Slovak people is that even after belonging to a single country once upon a time, now the former belongs to a country known as the Czech Republic while on the other hand the latter belongs to a country known as Slovakia. There are other technical differences also present between the culture and other traditions of both these countries. 

Czech and Slovak

Located in the middle of central Europe, the Czech Republic is basically a country known for its cultural values and distinct traditions. People belonging to this particular area and speaking their distinct language are known as Czech people. This country is very well known for its food and other characteristics. 

While on the other hand, Slovakia is basically a country situated at the most southeast point of the Czech Republic and shares its border with many other countries of the Austrian region. A total number of eight reasons are included in the area of this particular country, and it is very well known for its ancient traditions and historical values.

A very prominent feature of these people is that they happen to be very gullible in their religious customs, and they find it no big deal to modify and sometimes even alter their religious customs as per their usage and changing times. People of this country happen to be very fond of beer, and this happens to be evident from their choice of food on a day-to-day basis. 

Most of the people living in this country are either atheists and do not believe in God, or they are Roman Catholics and believe in Christianity. However, in the past 50 years, a very prominent impact of Western countries has been seen upon the people of this country as well, and in many traditions, they tend to follow western traditions. 

What is Slovak? 

Consisting of a total of eight different reasons, Slovakia is a country situated at a very southern point of the Czech Republic, and it is a very prominent one owing to its historical and traditional values that are still prevalent even after being exposed to different types of cultures in the past many decades. 

People living in the country Slovakia are simply known as Slovak or Slovak people, and they happen to speak a language also known as Slovak. Most of the people living in this country tend to follow Christianity, and they firmly believe in their religious traditions and other thoughts and do not like to change them for any particular reason whatsoever. 

Even after being exposed to so many cultures, especially the western culture, this country still stands firmly on the ground of its traditions, and people here are very less influenced by other cultures. Usually, the land of this country is mountainous, but in terms of climate, the continental climate is the suited term for the climate of this country. 

Main Differences Between Czech and Slovak 

  1. Czech is a term used to represent people belonging to the Czech Republic, while on the other hand, Slovak is a term used to represent people belonging to Slovakia. 
  2. Czech people are known to have the influence of western traditions on their own traditions, while on the other hand, Slovak people happen to have very little influence on Western countries. 
  3. Czech are people belonging to a country situated in middle Europe while on the other hand, Slovak are people belonging to a southern direction of Czech Republic. 
  4. Czech people are usually either atheists or Catholics, while on the other hand, Slovak people are generally Catholics only. 
  5. Czech people happen to be very tolerant as per their religious traditions, while on the other hand, Slovak people are known to be very orthodox in such matters. 

Conclusion 

Before World War One hit the world, both Czech Republic and Slovakia used to be one single country known as Czechoslovakia, but due to the adverse changes in time, a separation took place between these two countries, and now they are known as separate sovereign entities in their own jurisdiction. 

While on one side the Czech Republic is a very famous country situated in middle Europe, Slovakia can be seen on the map on the southeast point of the Czech Republic. The reason that long ago, these two countries used to be known as one singular country still influences the mind of people and creates confusion as to differentiation in both these countries. But in a nutshell, it can be concluded that both Czech Republic and Slovakia are very distinctive in nature.
