Process of making cream cheese is extremely easy and can be done at home anytime with simple ingredients, the ingredients include milk, cream, and vinegar or lemon.
To make cream cheese milk and cream is taken in a ratio of 1:2, which is then heated in a saucepan, and when it boils the acidic substance which is lemon or vinegar is dropped. This mixture needs to be stirred constantly until it curdles.
After this cheese curd and whey are separated. The cheese curd is strained and churned in the processor.
Cream cheese available in the market is made along with some stabilizers and preservatives, but it is best to use the homemade cream cheese. It is advisable to use the homemade cream cheese as soon as possible as it has a short shelf life.

Cream cheese spread is a softer version of cream cheese, it is prepared by adding few ingredients to regular cream cheese. There are several brands available in the market for cream cheese spread.

Unlike cream cheese, cream cheese spread cannot be used for frosting due to its salty taste rather it is often served as a dip for salads or along with potato chips. The whipping of cream cheese makes it more cheesy in texture which is easy to spread over any surface like bread, or pizza base.
It is more readily available in the market, but it is difficult to prepare at home because it includes Chemicals like several stabilizers which are not available at home.
