What is Gorilla Glass?
A toughened glass generally applied on the screens of mobile phones, tablets, and other electronic devices for better protection is known as gorilla glass. It is a transparent glass made from amorphous material which is solidified.
It is a sheet of glass that is made from compound silica which is generally found in sand. The sheet is then bathed multiple times in chemicals to harden it at high temperatures. The stretch of the glass is increased and ensures that the glass is scratch-resistant and lasts longer.
The ion exchange process is used in making gorilla glass, where the glass is put in a mixture of molten alkaline salts. They are thin and weigh extremely less. Applying gorilla glass does not affect the weight and feel of a device.
For extra precautions, many mobile phones come with built-in gorilla glass protectors. Many gorilla glass protectors come with an oleophobic coating. They are available in versions like 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0.
Gorilla glass protectors can not be replaced or reused and are included in the device’s price. Gorilla glass has touchscreen abilities which is why they are used in many smartphones and portable electronic devices.

What is Normal Glass?
A normal glass is a thin sheet of glass used in gaming consoles, DVD players, and various MP3 players. It is relatively less scratch-resistant and preferably used less as they are unreliable for the long term.
Before the invention of gorilla glass protectors, normal glass protectors were briefly used to protect the devices’ screens. Until the early 1990s, a modified glass protector was used in industrial applications. They were also used in aviation, pharmaceuticals, and mainly in automotive.
The major manufacturers of normal glass protectors are small Chinese companies. Depending on the magnitude of the manufacturing company, the price, quality, and overall performance of the glass protectors may differ, but there are no major versions in the market.
The user installs A tempered glass protector on their mobile phones, which are infamously known as screen guards. They are either blue light glass, transparent, or matte. These three variants perform differently and have different sensor abilities.
