What is Ford F-150?

The US car manufacturing company, Ford introduced its iconic F-150 back in 1975 and has since gone on to become the best selling truck ever. The Ford F-150 naturally comes under F-series which also includes F-250, F-450 Super Duty, F-550 Super Duty, and F-650/750 Super Duty.

The Ford F-150 comes in two different trims: XL and XLT. It is one of the most playful and budgeted pick-up trucks that you will ever come across. The 2.7-L EcoBoost engine outcomes a whooping amount of 290hp and 265 lb-ft of torque which is found quite rare in such a budgeted model.

Such kind of engines dominates its other rivals like the Toyota Tacoma, GMC Sierra 1500, and few more. The 2.7 L EcoBoost V6 engine completes the 0-60 MPH mark in just 7.6 seconds and completes its quarter-mile run in just 13.7 seconds which is another outstanding from the 2.7 L EcoBoost engine.

The 6-speed automatic transmission manipulates power quite efficiently and gives the ride that you exactly want out of it. The premium 6-speed automatic transmission sends all the power to its rear wheels only and makes sure that enough speed is maintained throughout without any kind of interruptions.

Moving to its braking performance, the Ford F-150 is very efficient and accurate. The brake pedal is quite responsive and it does not need much force to come into efficiency. The 17-inch rims stuck with 190 section tires provides a comfortable surface area to improve the overall braking performance. Other than its huge horsepower, the 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine offers outstanding MPG figures. It offers 19 MPG on the city, 25MPG in the highway, and 22 MPG as combined with 23 gallons of fuel capacity.

The Ford F-150 is a much better option than its rivals like the Chevrolet Colorado Extended Cab, Toyota Tacoma, and GMC Sierra. Since the day Ford introduced the first F-150 it has been maintaining its status as the best selling truck on the market.

What is Ford Raptor?

The Ford’s Raptor, on the other hand, comes equipped with a quite larger engine as compared to the Ford F-150. Ford had first introduced their Raptor back in the year 2010 where Ford only manufactured only two of them.

The Raptor was introduced to compete with other off-road pick-up trucks. The Ford’s Raptor is capable of outcoming 450hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. The 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine of Raptor has always been offering a good and comfortable ride to its customers.

The model reaches from 0-60 MPH in just 5.5 seconds and completes a quarter-mile run in just 13.8 seconds with a top speed of 107 MPH. The 10-speed shiftable automatic transmission helps the model to achieve such kind of performance.

Ford Raptor comes equipped with an ABS system and has anti-lock disc brakes that are quite consistent when you switch to ‘Driving Mode’. The front and brake rotors are quite large and can stop the model from 60-0 MPH in under 132 ft.

Unfortunately, Raptor’s fuel economy is not as good as F-150. The 3.5L V6 engine gulps in a lot of fuel. Raptor offers 15 MPG in the city, 18 MPG on the highway, and 16 MPG as combined with a fuel tank capacity of 26 gallons.

The model comes loaded with all the latest and updated technical features that just improves and increases the interior comfortableness. In other words, we could say it is an all-in-one pick-up truck. The Raptor is fast, towing capacity is huge, premium interior, stylish exterior, and many such improvements in it.

Main Differences Between F-150 and Raptor

  1. The F-150 model has an engine of 2.7 L whereas the Raptor model has an engine of 3.5 L.
  2. Both the trucks come with the same fuel i.e. diesel segment trucks.
  3. Both the trucks are quite powerful but the Raptor is much powerful than the F-150.
  4. The F-150 has an RWD drive system whereas the Raptor has an AWD drive system.
  5. The difference in the engines makes a huge difference in their power too. Clearly, the Raptor is much powerful than F-150.

Conclusion

Both these pick-up trucks have got its advantages and disadvantages. However, it depends up on the choice and preferences of the customers. If you are going for one truck from the above mentioned trucks segments then you first have to make sure that you know the full details of each.

It should also be kept in mind that you insure your trucks/cars after you purchase. Maintenance and servicing of these trucks are required to be done periodically.
