Difference Between Nikon D7000 and Nikon D90

What is Nikon D7000?

The Nikon D7000 is a 16.2-megapixel digital camera that is commonly known as DSLR. It came to the market on September 15, 2010. It can be marked as the legatee of the D90 and is an advanced camera that holds much more features than Nikon D7000.

It weighs 690 grams and supports mono sound and stereo external mic support. Its pictures come with Full HD 1080p, and while filming, the auto-focus feature is available.

Its enhanced built-in RAW processing offers a Retouch menu from where you can process images that too without connecting a computer. It comes with the facility of two users mode. Also, the feature of time-lapse photography is in-built in this camera.

This DSLR has a Weather-resistant body and splash-proof polish. The camera is made with Magnesium-alloy. This camera model, D7000, is able to shoot continuously, and the shooting is much faster than the D90 model.

It can capture 6 frames per second which means it can effectively capture fleeting moments. This feature is very useful for motion photography.

What is Nikon D90?

The Nikon D90 is a DSLR camera that comes with a single-lens reflex. It is a 12.3-megapixel camera that hit the market on August 27, 2008.

This model came out after the Nikon D80, so it can be called an upgraded version of the Nikon D80. It comes with the Nikon DX-format crop sensor.

It has a 420-pixel RGB sensor and TTL 3D Color Matrix. From the features of the Nikon D80, it is capable of extended light sensitivity.

Chromatic aberration present in it does automatic correction in colour. The video recorded with this camera gets saved in 720p HD. 

D90 is the first Nikon camera that offered the feature of a third firmware module, named “L”. Here the lens distance integration was updated.

Nikon D90 supports GPS integration and thus tags the location of the captured photographs automatically. For this GPS receiver is required, which gets sold separately. 

Main Differences Between Nikon D7000 and Nikon D90

  1. Nikon D7000 offers 16.2 MP pixels, whereas Nikon D90 offers 12.3 MP pixels.
  2. Nikon D7000 is capable of taking 6 frames per second, but Nikon D90 is capable of taking 4.5 FPS frames per second.
