Difference Between Nintendo Wii and Nintendo Wii U

Nintendo, a Japanese consumer electronics and video game organization, had manufactured the two popular gaming consoles called Wii and Wii U which had transformed the nature and credibility of gaming by aiming at an extensive audience, accommodating the needs of individuals at any age.

Despite having inferior graphics and a slower processor compared to its competitors, the 2007 sales figures of the Financial Times revealed that the Nintendo Wii had surpassed the Xbox 360 and had emerged amongst the top-selling electronic game consoles of all time and reached new levels of popularity by selling over 26 million gaming consoles in 2009, which is still a favorable number even now.

In the year 2012, Nintendo had put much thought into issuing an upgraded cutting-edge version of a video game console that is loaded with innovation to help lead Nintendo into the contemporary world adjacent to the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One and thereby offered gamers the successor of the Wii–the Wii U.

Taking everything into account, apart from recognizing them as gaming consoles, a large portion of intense gamers are under the impression that the Wii is an entirely different console as compared to the Wii.

What is Nintendo Wii?

The Wii was a seventh-generation home video game console manufactured by a Japanese company Nintendo on November 16th, 2006.

The Nintendo Wii had a remote which was the prime controller of the console. The Wiimote was built with a cutting-edge technology of infrared detection and accelerometers to detect the position in 3D-space.

Nintendo Wii allows wireless connectivity with the Nintendo BS. The Nintendo games are addictive for all age groups. Nintendo Wii also has parental controls that help prevent young users from playing games of unsuitable content.

The Wii U is an eighth-generation home video game console that was released by the Japanese company Nintendo in the year 2012. The Nintendo Wii U is considered as the worthy successor of Nintendo Wii.

The basic bundle comprised of a white Wii U which had 8GB of storage and the deluxe bundle comprised of a black Wii U which had 32GB storage.

The Nintendo Wii U had a prime controller called the Wii U GamePad and also has an inbuilt 15.7 cm touch display, extra 2 USB ports, two analog sticks, a front-facing camera, and stereo speakers.


Main Differences Between Nintendo Wii and Nintendo Wii U

  1. The Nintendo Wii was created by a Japanese company Nintendo in the year 2006 and is the seventh-generation video game console as well as a notable successor of GameCube.
  2. The Nintendo Wii consists of an internal storage of 512MB as well as a slot for the SD card. The Nintendo Wii U consists of two forms of variations i.e, the basic variant which has an internal storage of 8GB and the deluxe variant which had an internal storage of 32MB.
